Frequently Asked Questions

I've taken a few questions I've heard frequently over the years and answered them below!

My couples usually hire me because they want to be comfortable with their photographer in front of the camera. They love candid, real moments, while also wanting to get those classic, must-have photos at their wedding.

City Winery Boston Wedding

Over 300! I went full time in 2013 and typically shoot about 35 weddings a year.

I have so many, but probably the dance floor! I love the energy, movement and challenge of capturing candid moments that still flatter people and make it feel like everyone is having fun. I also love the moment of walking back up the aisle after the ceremony, that is just pure joy!

North End Winter Engagement Session

Every package is totally customizable, but most people add on the engagement session and an album. We recommend a second photographer with over a 100 guests. You also get all your edited digital files with full rights to print.

Absolutely! And it’s so fun for your guests, they will love you. Check out The Zebra Booth for more info.

We require a 1/3 retainer to secure your date. 1/3 is due halfway to the wedding date, and the final 1/3 is due the month before the wedding.

Boston wedding photographer Stephen Whiting

My name is Stephen Whiting, and I’m a wedding photographer 🙂 Yes, I’m always the main photographer, and I have an amazing team of second photographers that I work with.

I think I just broke my knuckles from “knocking on wood” so hard, but after over 300 weddings, I’ve never missed a wedding because of illness (or any other reason). I have a fantastic network of photographers that would jump at the chance to help me out if something happened to me, and I would do the same for them.

Typically a suit without a jacket. Shirt, sometimes a tie, dress pants. For outdoor summer weddings, I’ll definitely lose the tie 🙂

Hyatt Boston Harbor Wedding

About 85 photos per hour with me as the main photographer and about 45 photos per hour for the second photographer. So typically at least 1,000 photos with two photographers.

This is the whole point of hiring me! I want make sure that you will receive something tangible to hold in your hands after your wedding day. Think of it as a gift to your future self and future generations. We’ll work together after the wedding to pick your favorites and build your album.

I’ll send your contract that you can sign digitally, as well as your first retainer invoice to save your date. You can pay online with checking account or credit card so it’s super convenient. We’ll be in contact throughout the planning process to make sure we have the best opportunities to get all the photos you’re dreaming of!
